An Indian entrepreneur shared on social media how his Apple Watch called help from emergency services after his car was involved in a crash on a highway in the US. Kuldeep Dhankar, of Last9.io cloud services, praised his Apple Watch for dialling 911 and alerting emergency services.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dhankar shared a photo of his heavily damaged car on a highway, along with a police officer examining the crash site. He stated that the accident occurred when his car was rear-ended by another vehicle while they were at a standstill in traffic.

According to Dhankar, his Apple Watch detected the impact and automatically contacted 911, the emergency number for police, fire, or medical services.

"Got rear ended by a car while we were at standstill in traffic, on the I-5 yesterday. The car behind was probably a total loss. (we are perfectly safe). Apple Watch detected that we were in a crash and auto called 911 and there was an officer on the scene with in minutes. We were able to leave in 30 minutes and got to our destination safe. So impressed by Apple Watch and California highway patrol," Kuldeep Dhankar, an Indian entrepreneur, wrote on X.

After he shared the post on X, several users flocked to the comments section.

"Glad you are safe! Apple Watch did its job well," wrote one user, while another said, "Glad you’re safe. Take care."

In October, the Apple Watch saved an elderly woman when the device detected a severe heart condition, leading to timely medical intervention. The Apple Watch Series 10 identified an irregular heartbeat, which resulted in a diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a potentially serious condition that can cause significant complications if left untreated.
