Nepal security forces have recovered the bodies of two Indian tourists who were missing since October 20. The bodies have been recovered from the Manang district following weeks of search operations, reported ANI, citing officials.

Identified as 52-year-old Jignesh Kumar Lallubhai Patel and 17-year-old Priyansa Kumari Patel, the deceased are father and daughter.

Speaking about the search operation, APF DSP Shailendra Thapa said that the officials have been searching for the duo for weeks.

“On November 9, a mountain rescue team led by APF Deputy Superintendent Hira Bahadur GC located their bodies about 100 meters above the monastery, buried under snow," he said.

Father And Daughter Missing Since October 20

The father and daughter, who had been staying in the Gyalzen Hotel in Ngisyang Rural Municipality-4, reportedly headed to visit Maleripa Monastery in Ward No. 5 on October 20. They had been out of contact since then.

Unable to contact them, the hotel manager informed the APF’s Mountain Rescue Training Centre in Manang, and a search operation was launched.

The process of recovering the bodies from the site is expected to be completed by tomorrow, Thapa said.

Snowstorm Hits Nepal, Tourist Spots Cut Off

A powerful snowstorm struck Nepal in October, causing major disruptions across the Himalayan region. In Manang district alone, security teams rescued more than 1,500 tourists who had been stranded due to heavy snowfall and bad weather.

The father and daughter had gone missing before the Montha weather system hit the Nepal Himalayas. However, another weather disturbance had already brought intense snowfall to higher areas earlier that month.

Trekking routes across Nepal were shut down for more than a week as severe weather made travel impossible, and several popular tourist spots were left cut off by snow blockades.
