Several people were injured, while many were feared dead after a car drove into a crowd in the western German city of Mannheim, according to reports on Monday. The incident took place as the people gathered in cities across regions, including Germany’s Rhineland, for parades to witness the carnival season.

Several people were seen lying on the ground while two were being resuscitated, according to an eyewitness.
