Pegasus spyware has been an issue over the years and now it seems the attacks could have targeted a wider range of users.
The dangerous Pegasus spyware could have targeted regular users
Pegasus is a dangerous spyware that has mostly been used on select targets over the years. But a new security report suggests the spyware is likely to have been targeted at regular users as well. These scary details come via iVerify, a company that expertise in detecting these infections with its products.
The security firm claims to have scanned thousands of devices and surprisingly found that more than the estimated number of devices were infected by the spyware.
Pegasus Back In The News: Should You Worry?
The spyware was mostly in the news for being targeted at select individuals and claimed to be operated by high-level government entities. But the new update about Pegasus suggests these attackers might have exposed other users as well, which will surely be a concern as the spyware is able to covertly execute its actions and also get access to the phone’s camera, messages and more.
The other crucial aspect about Pegasus is that both Android and iPhone users are not safe from the spyware and you cannot easily detect its presence on the devices. The security firm tested around 2,500 devices with its new security tool and found that seven of them had signs of infection via Pegasus. Some of them were even dated back to 2021 which suggests the news about the spyware might have not reached its full potential in the last few years.
Now, imagine a spyware of this power on the prowl and targeting the general public, it will be a massive issue for the authorities. Spyware threats are not a surprise anymore but when a dangerous version like Pegasus hits the public, the need to be vigilant and cautious of possible intrusions becomes important.
