Delhi Assembly Elections LIVE: A high-decibel Delhi poll campaign is underway ahead of the February 5 voting day, as part of which the political parties are hitting the ground and taking their vision to the people.

AAP’s campaign was hit by a massive controversy after party chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed that Haryana was contaminating the Yamuna river with “poison” before the water entered Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed him for his remarks, stating that he himself, along with other residents of the city and top officials drink the same water.

The Election Commission of India had sought a response from Kejriwal on his remark by 8 pm on Wednesday, replying to which the AAP chief said that the raw water received from the neighbouring state was “highly contaminated and extremely poisonous” for human health.

Delhi CM Writes to EC; Complains of Money, Liquor Distributed in Kalkaji, Attack on Slum Dwellers

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote to the Election Commission on Thursday, alleging the distribution of money and liquor in Kalkaji constituency in “blatant violation” of the model code of conduct for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls.

Atishi, who is also the AAP candidate from Kalkaji, claimed to have learned that money and liquor are being distributed in large quantities in slum areas, including Nehru Camp, Navjeevan Camp, Transit Camp A and B, and Pocket A14 in Kalkaji.

She also alleged that violence and threats are being used to intimidate voters in these slum clusters.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday claimed that a team of the Election Commission officials reached Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Kapurthala House residence in Delhi for search.

A team of the Election Commission (EC) officials was present at Mann’s Kapurthala House to conduct a search at the premises, the AAP said in a statement.

An official outside Kapurthala House on Copernicus Marg here told reporters that a complaint was received regarding “cash” being distributed from there.

The team was awaiting permission to conduct the search, he added.
