Fire incident at Cello World's Mumbai subsidiary; no casualties reported

Household products and stationery manufacturer Cello World Ltd on Tuesday (February 18) said a fire broke out at Cello Industries Private Ltd's (CIPL) Opal division in Daman on February 18, 2025, at approximately 3 pm.

"It is hereby informed that a fire incidence took place in one of the furnaces located at Survey No. 597/1 & 597/1-C, Building No. 2, 3 & 4, Somnath Road, Dhabhel, Daman, Daman and Diu, 396210 of Cello Industries Private Limited, wholly owned subsidiary of the company (CIPL) on February 18, 2025, at around 03.00 p.m. IST," Cello World said in a regulatory filing.

The fire, which occurred in one of the furnaces, was swiftly controlled with assistance from the fire brigade. No casualties or injuries were reported. Cello World confirmed that CIPL has adequate insurance coverage, including a loss-of-profit policy. The company has informed its insurer and is assessing the financial impact of the incident.

"We would like to clarify that the CIPL has adequate insurance coverage and is also covered under a loss of profit policy. Further, CIPL have already informed the insurance company about the incidence. The Management is in the process of ascertaining the loss for submission to the Insurance company," it added.
