The horrific video of the incident was captured by another skier at Mont Blanc, Europe's highest mountain. The victim skier survived death by a whisker and sustained injuries.

A German skier came inches away from death after being swept by an avalanche while skiing at Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. However, he survived the terrifying incident by a whisker as he inflated his anti-avalanche airbag in time which helped him keep above the surface of the snow, according to reports.
The incident took place on January 29 and was filmed by Chamonix eyewitness Morgan Akhourfi, 24.
How Did The Incident Take Place?
According to the video, the skier was seen being swept away by the avalanche as he skidded through the snow 300 meters toward a 50-meter cliff. The horrific moment left the other skiers in panic.
However, the victim skier was lucky to survive the fall. He, however, was in shock and had a broken leg and fractured ribs at the end of it all.

The airbag which helps keep the wearer near the surface of the snow saved his life.
The rescue teams arrived to the spot within 20 minutes and shifted him to the hospital for treatment. Morgan said that he thought the skier was dead before they found him alive later.
On the same day, separate avalanches claimed the lives of five skiers in the French Alps.
