Google Chat is now taking on Slack with its new Huddles feature that could become popular.
Huddles is Google's version of slack for quick calls.
Google is improving Google Chat, its messaging app, by adding a new audio-only feature called “Huddles." Google Meet powers this new feature, which gives users a smooth method to have brief, casual talks without using video.
“Powered by Google Meet, huddles let you start an audio-first meeting, making real-time collaboration easier than ever. Once the huddle has started, you can resize or drag the window, add video, or share your screen for a fuller meeting experience while multitasking in Chat," Google mentioned in a blog post.
Google says Huddles will help you reduce fatigue that you get while attending meeting. “Instead of jumping out of the conversation and into a meeting, huddles integrates directly and smoothly into the Chat experience. The format of huddles also supports multi-tasking while in Chat as you can easily resize or share your screen," it adds in the post.
Google Huddles: Key Characteristics
Simple and quick: With only a few clicks, users may initiate a Huddle, which facilitates communication with friends and coworkers.
Exceptionally clean audio: Huddles use the cutting-edge audio technology of Google Meet to deliver dependable and crystal-clear audio.
Integration that is seamless: Google Chat’s seamless integration of Huddles makes it simple for users to transition between text and voice communication.
Reduction of background noise: The whole audio experience is improved by intelligent noise cancellation, which makes sure that background distractions are reduced.
Google hopes to meet a broader range of communication demands by fusing the audio quality of Meet with the ease of Chat.
Huddle In Google Chat: How To Start
Users only need to click the video icon in the Chat window’s upper-right corner and choose Start a Huddle to begin a Huddle. Video can be activated at any moment, although the Huddle starts as an audio-only call.
A chat notification with the opportunity to join will appear if someone invites you to a Huddle. Group chats, spaces, and direct messaging can all be used for huddles.
In Google Workspace-enabled organisations, administrators can control Huddles access by turning Meet on or off inside the domain. Nonetheless, end users who have access to the capability can quickly create or join Huddles.
