Google’s Find My Device Now Lets You Track People's Location As Well: Here’s How

Find My Device is going beyond helping you track gadgets like earbuds and phone. It now has this WhatsApp-like feature to locate people also.

The new feature works like WhatsApp, letting you share location of people with friends

Google lets you track devices using the Find My Device network like Apple but now this feature is able to let you locate people as well. Yes, the whole Device part of Google’s Find My has changed with the new update this month.

Reports say Find My Device now shows you a map of friends and family members on the app who share their location with you. Google introduced this update in March and more users are getting it now.

Find My Device For Contacts: How It Works

The Android update is not limited to the Pixel devices and most of the latest phones already have support for locating people in the Find My Device app. The feature shows in the bottom tab next to Devices, where you will start seeing People (Beta) on the app. The feature says, share your real-time location with friends and family.

They can see where you are and share with you across Google apps and services. This is similar to the live location feature offered by WhatsApp and you can define how long the location should be visible to your shared contacts. We were independently able to verify for this new change in the Find My Android app and it works as expected.

Unlike WhatsApp, you don’t need any special app to use the feature as the Find My Device app comes pre-installed on most Android phones and works through your Google account. This is a good and a useful update for a lot of people who will surely consider using one app to track their phones/tablets as well as people.

The Find My app on Android is also now capable of tracking devices like earbuds even when they are offline, which is useful in case you lose them during your travel.
