A 37-year-old man from Karnataka has died after a shooting incident in Canada. The victim, identified as Chandan Kumar, was originally from Thyamagondlu village in Nelamangala and had been living abroad for several years for work.

According to an official release by Toronto Police, the attack took place on Saturday afternoon in the parking area of the Woodbine Shopping Centre near Rexdale Boulevard and Highway 27.

Officers reached the spot around 3:31 PM after receiving reports of gunfire and found a man with serious gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital but later died during treatment.

Authorities confirmed the victim as Chandan Kumar Raja Nandakumar, a resident of Brampton. Investigators said several rounds were fired at the vehicle he was travelling in.

A homicide probe has been launched, and further details about the suspects are yet to be released.

The police rushed to the spot responding to a call reporting a shooting and found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later succumbed and was pronounced dead.

Chandan Kumar had been working in Canada for nearly six years. Back in Karnataka, his parents were informed about the shooting incident by police.

His father, Nandakumar, is a retired teacher, and the family is now waiting for more information from officials.

A further investigation into the case is underway.
