Trouble continues to mount for Kunal Kamra as the Maharashtra Legislative Council has admitted a breach of privilege notice against the stand-up artist for his “traitor" joke on Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a show.

Council chairperson Ram Shinde said that he has accepted the notice against Kamra and referred it to the Privileges Committee, news agency PTI reported.

What Does Breach Of Privilege Notice Mean For Kunal Kamra?

Breach of privilege is when someone disrespects or undermines the special rights of members of parliament or the legislature. Acceptance of the notice would mean that Kamra might have to appear before the council.

Maharashtra Legislative Council is the upper house of the bicameral legislature of Maharashtra – just as Rajya Sabha is to the Parliament of India – while the Legislative Assembly is the lower house, like Lok Sabha in the Parliament.
