Mankind Pharma is expanding its diabetes portfolio with two more injectable therapies, as the pharmaceutical company looks to build on steady growth and strengthen its presence in a segment where it already has an established foothold.
The company has entered into an exclusive in-licensing and marketing agreement with China-based Chongqing Chenan Biopharmaceutical Co. Ltd to commercialise Insulin Degludec and Insulin Degludec + Aspart Combination in India.
The partnership adds to Mankind Pharma’s existing diabetes portfolio and follows its earlier partnerships for Insulin Aspart and Insulin Degludec. The company said the latest agreement will help broaden its range of injectable diabetes therapies.
Atish Majumdar, Senior President – Sales and Marketing at Mankind Pharma, said the company sees China’s developing biopharmaceutical ecosystem as a potential source of differentiated assets for the Indian market.
“China is rapidly emerging as a hub for innovative biopharmaceutical assets. Building on our partnerships for Insulin Aspart and Insulin Degludec, we remain focused on expanding our in-licensing pipeline from China,” Majumdar said.
The agreement comes shortly after a strong first quarter for Mankind Pharma. The company reported a 30% year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹568 crore in Q1FY27, compared with ₹438 crore a year earlier.
Revenue from operations increased 13% to ₹4,031 crore, while EBITDA rose 25% to ₹1,057 crore. The EBITDA margin also improved to 26.2% from 23.7% in the year-ago quarter.
The latest deal therefore comes as Mankind continues to invest in expanding its portfolio while maintaining growth and margin momentum.
Shares of Mankind Pharma were trading 0.32% higher at ₹2,401.60 on the NSE as of 2:22 p.m. on Thursday.
