Microsoft is heavily focused in the AI arena with Copilot and Azure cloud but it needs to be smart with its policies.
The company needs to clarify how your data will be used or not
Microsoft is heavily invested in the AI ecosystem but fears have creeped in whether the company is using your data from products like Word and Excel to train its AI systems. Well, the company has decided to take matters into its own hands and clear up all these questions once and for all. Microsoft has assured its customers that none of their data is being scraped to its AI models.
The concerns came about when multiple users highlighted the lack of AI-centric policies from the company in its settings. Not having these aspects covered in its documents did cause some distrust among people as many are now worried about how the tech companies are using their data.
It is imperative that a trillion dollar-valued tech behemoth like Microsoft understands the feeling of the general public these days and make sure the words and statements around AI are clearly cited in the paperwork. After all, Excel and Word are used by billions across the globe, and if people get even a hint that their content could one day show up in the AI results, Microsoft would want to avoid mishaps of that order.
AI Concerns On The Rise
Microsoft isn’t the only big tech company to face these concerns recently. Adobe also went awkward with its content policy which triggered a massive outburst, forcing the company to retract its policies and assure customers their data will never be used for their creative AI models.
At a time when AI is taking over the world through these models, customer trust isn’t really high, and lapses like these don’t help the matters.
Google has faced its own AI concerns when Gemini had thrown up inaccurate results. More importantly, AI hallucinations are part of the whole problem, and it all depends on how and where the data scraping is being done, which allows the AI models to learn and deliver the results on the internet.
