Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, who was arrested on charges of sedition in Bangladesh, faced a massive setback on Tuesday after lawyers denied appearing for him during the bail hearing in a court, said sources.

The Chattogram court adjourned the hearing to January 2, according to sources, after Bar Association lawyers barred any legal professional from representing the Hindu religious leader.

Das, a former member of the Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), was arrested from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal Airport on November 25. Later, Chattogram’s Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate court denied him bail and sent him to police custody.

Sources revealed that an advocate, identified as Rabindra Ghosh, came from Dhaka to attend the court hearing. However, he was stopped to enter the court premises by the crowd, they added.
