OnePlus and Vivo are bringing their Android 16 updates to India with the new phones but also for the older devices.

OnePlus and Vivo are bringing their new Android 16 updates to India
OriginOS and OxygenOS updates based on Android 16 version will be unveiled in the next few weeks for the Indian market. Google and Samsung along with Xiaomi have unveiled their new versions in the last few months and now with the Vivo X300 and the OnePlus 15 launch imminent, the new software release was highly expected this month.
The use of Android 16 on these devices will allow them to power more AI features and give Gemini AI more tools to succeed and become more functional for millions.
Vivo bringing OriginOS to India is the bigger news, especially because of how Funtouch OS has been limiting its powerful hardware over the years. So what can we expect from the new Android 16 updates from Vivo and OnePlus? Here are the details.
OnePlus Brings OxygenOS 16 To India
OnePlus has confirmed that Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 version is coming to India on October 16. OnePlus has added the Plus Key with the 13s model earlier this year and we expect OnePlus AI to get a facelift with the new OnePlus 15 flagship device that will be announced in China this month.
OnePlus AI is already a key part of its ecosystem and the new OxygenOS 16 version could add a few more feathers in its AI cap. The launch could also have OnePlus share the details about which devices get the new Android 16 update and what’s the timeline for their beta and stable releases in the country. OnePlus is also going to make Gemini AI models work on-device which keeps the data secure and it can be accessed through the Plus Mind folder.
OriginOS Finally In India
Vivo is bringing OriginOS (instead of Funtouch OS) based on Android 16 update for users in India for the very first time. Many users have been asking the brand to bring the OriginOS skin outside of China and Vivo has finally agreed to their wishes, both for Vivo and iQOO phones in the market.
The OriginOS 6 preview program is Vivo’s own version of the beta program for the new Android 16 version that will gradually come to more devices.
The OriginOS 6 version is launching in China next week and its India debut is confirmed for October 15, 2025. Vivo will have more details to share about the new OriginOS 6 version, which the company says will offer “the smoothest Android experience with a refreshed interface, deeper customization, and enriched AI-driven features, for a delightful product experience."
Vivo X300 series is launching in China next month and the India launch might not be too far away. We are eager to see how the new devices with the OriginOS 6 version deliver the flagship experience.
