Phones with power bank-like batteries are widely tipped to enter the market in 2026 and here's why we are excited.

Power bank and phones are going to offer the same features

We saw brands launch sleek phones, compact phones but 2026 could be the year when smartphones evolve into full-fledged power banks. Yes, next year we are going to see phones launch with massive batteries, as big as 10,000mAh and these will start coming in early 2026 itself. Xiaomi is widely tipped to be at the forefront of these advancements, which is most likely getting aided by the mark of silicon carbon grade technology.

It could have two phones in the pipeline and reports suggest one of them could be introduced this month itself. But Xiaomi is not going to be the only brand to enter the powerbank phone wars with 2026 primed to be the year where the numbers reach another level. 

Powerbank-Like Phones: How Will They Look?

You’ve seen power banks with 10,000mAh or even 20,000mAh units that allow you to charge the phones and other devices when you are on the move. But we are now coming to a point where the regular phones can house batteries of these capacities, and this is going to become a reality soon. 

This is not the first time phones with large batteries will be launched, in fact brands like Duracell have offered similar products before. 

But mainstream brands are entering the space with the use of silicon carbon battery tech, as the higher density battery can be fit inside a slimmer body. We’ve seen this with phones launched in 2025 where 7,500mAh battery has been easily achieved with an 8mm body and weighing around 215 grams. 

But now, Redmi is going to use this to springboard its lineup in 2026 with phones that can carry as big as 10,000mAh battery. These will get 100W wired fast charging support and the device will be less than 8.5mm thick, which sounds quite impressive. 

Honor is another brand that will be offering products with similar specs and it would be easy to see the likes of Oppo, OnePlus and Realme enter the room with their own products. In fact, Realme has already teased its phone with an even bigger 15,000mAh battery earlier this year. We’ve seen the battery life improve this year with phones, and it should ideally get better if the newer units ship with bigger batteries.
