Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 1,000 beneficiaries of Maharashtra’s flagship ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme have been invited to the oath-taking ceremony of the new government on Thursday.

They will be joined by farmer beneficiaries as well as sadhus and saints — much like the inauguration of the new Parliament building. The ‘Ladki Bahin’ initiative was touted as one of the major contributing factors to the Mahayuti’s landslide win in the 2024 assembly elections.

Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP will be sworn in as the chief minister, while caretaker CM Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar take oath as his deputies. The event will also be attended by Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda, CMs and deputies of NDA-ruled states among other dignitaries.

The ceremony will be held at the Azad Maidan in south Mumbai. Fadnavis was on Wednesday unanimously elected as Maharashtra BJP legislature party’s leader, paving the way for his swearing-in for a third time.

Here is what the guest list looks like:

According to officials, special arrangements have been made to accommodate 40,000 BJP supporters and a separate seating arrangement made for 2,000 VVIPs, including leaders from various religions.

Officials said more than 4,000 police personnel have been deployed for security during the swearing-in ceremony. A platoon of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), and Quick Response Team (QRT), Riots Control Team, Delta, Combat teams and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad have also been deployed, they said.
