A purported video of a senior Lashkar commander has surfaced in which he has issued an open threat to India, vowing “retribution" for Operation Sindoor.
The video purportedly features Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) deputy chief Saifullah Kasuri. In it, he has allegedly threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India over Kashmir.
In the video lasting almost two minutes, Kasuri – the alleged mastermind of the Pahalgam terror attack – directly addresses Modi saying their “resolve remains strong" and, soon, “the rivers and dams of Jammu and Kashmir will belong to us".
“It’s a tough time but we will avenge the blood of our brothers," Kasuri states in the purported video.
According to top intelligence sources, Pakistan’s banned terrorist outfits are openly operating in the name of flood relief in areas like Bahawalpur in South Punjab.
Bahawalpur, known to be the nerve centre of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) operations, was one of the targets during India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7. The intelligence sources told News18 that the Pakistani government and army are funding these outfits, including the LeT, in the name of flood relief and without an audit.
The sources said Kasuri is a senior LeT commander and handler of The Resistance Front (TRF), which was involved in the Pahalgam attack. He is known to work closely with Hizbul Mujahideen and other Lashkar commanders, coordinating multi-group terror plots with logistical and tactical sophistication, they said.
They said despite objections from India, he is publicly visible in Pakistan and is known to deliver anti-India speeches at rallies engaging in propaganda and radicalisation as force multipliers. He enjoys state patronage and safe havens in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, with indications of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) facilitation and political shielding, they added.
This comes a day after a JeM commander admitted that the family of the terrorist Masood Azhar was “destroyed" during Operation Sindoor on May 7. A video of the statement was released on Tuesday (September 16).
The Lashkar leader’s claims, however, are a matter of concern despite Pakistan’s denial of terror-funding activities before the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and international watchdogs.
