Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty 50 index ended the day at 24,199, down 137 points, or 0.56%, after briefly dipping below Friday’s low of 24,181. The benchmark Sensex fell by 502 points, or 0.62%, to settle at 80,182.
Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Domestic equities extended losses on Wednesday, with the Nifty index slipping further and closing at its lowest level in three weeks. Financial stocks underperformed, led by heavyweights HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank.
The US market sank on Wednesday. The Dow Jones fell 1,100 points or 2.6% to mark its worst day since August and extend its slide for the 11th day running. This is the longest losing streak for the index since 1974. The Fed announced a cut in interest rates by 25 basis points on expected lines but said that it will now cut rates only twice in 2025 compared to four given in its previous forecast.
