Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Nifty has started August on a negative note. The 50-stock index is down around 80 points, falling below the 24,700 mark. The Sensex index is down close to 300 points. The Nifty Bank, and the broader market, that is, midcap and smallcap indices are under pressure, dipping by under 0.60%.
If the trend continues, the market could close for the first day of the month and this week in red, making it the 5th consecutive week of decline.
After Trump's decision to cut his tariffs on Bangladesh, textile stocks are under pressure, as Gokaldas Export and Pearl Global are trading with losses of over 1.5%.
The FII long ratio is currently at 10%, which is the lowest since April 2023. That, in previous instances, has turned out to be a boon for the index.
Earnings reactions continue from stocks like Coal India, City Union Bank, PB Fintech, among others. ITC is among the major earnings for the day.
