Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) genuinely cares about the welfare of West Bengal, and asserted that the people of the state will teach a lesson to the “heartless" Trinamool Congress (TMC) and end its 15 years of “Maha Jungle Raj".

While addressing a public gathering in Singur, Hooghly, PM Modi said that the massive crowd gathered there had only one demand — “asli parivartan" — and a clear desire to end what he described as “Maha Jungle Raj." He said people from all sections of society had come together with the hope of real change in the state.

The Prime Minister said that under the BJP rule, Bengali was classified as a regional language, Durga Puja was given the UNESCO tag, and the statue of Netaji Chandra Bose was installed in front of India Gate on Kartavya Path in Delhi. He questioned why these measures were not implemented when the TMC was allied with the Congress government.
