Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday mocked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for ruining his chance to play football star Lionel Messi. Rijiju’s jibe towards the Telangana Chief Minister came after a video of him went viral on social media, in which he was seen playing with Messi. 

In the video, Reddy was seen kicking the football far left and right while Messi was seen running around to catch it.

Sharing a short video clip of Reddy playing with the OG footballer, Rijiju wrote, “It’s totally messed up!! CM Revanth Reddy Ji got a golden chance to play with GOAT but he couldn’t even give simple pass to Messi. He kicked far left & right to make Messi run around."

Interestingly, former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also took to the comment section humorously and replied to the video saying, “Mamta didi might’ve asked him to take revenge for the Kolkata mess."

Argentine World Cup-winner Lionel Messi was felicitated by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during the Hyderabad leg of the GOAT India Tour 2025 on Saturday.

Messi, alongside Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul, was honoured by CM Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the legendary visit to the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.

Messi travelled to Hyderabad following a chaotic visit to Kolkata, where fans in the West Bengal capital city, who had spent money to see the magician from Rosario, were left disappointed.
