US President Donald Trump said he is pausing strikes on Iran’s energy infrastructure for 10 days at Tehran’s request, signaling a possible opening for diplomacy even as the conflict continues.

“As per Iranian Government request I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

Trump indicated that negotiations are underway and showing signs of progress. “Talks are ongoing and they are going very well,” he said, pushing back against what he called “erroneous statements” in media coverage of the conflict.

The pause marks the first formal slowdown in US strikes targeting Iran’s energy sector since the war escalated, and could provide space for backchannel diplomacy.
