US President Donald Trump on Friday once again claimed credit for solving eight global conflicts, including the flare-up between India and Pakistan, while expressing confidence that he could end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which he dubbed his “number nine.”
Speaking during a working lunch with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House, Trump recounted what he described as his personal success in preventing wars around the world.
“I solved eight wars,” Trump said. “Go to Rwanda and the Congo, talk about India and Pakistan. Look at all of the wars that we solved.”

“The Prime Minister of Pakistan said I saved millions of lives. Look at Pakistan and India as an example. That would have been a bad one — two nuclear nations,” he said.
The US president’s remarks referred to the May escalation between India and Pakistan that followed India’s Operation Sindoor, precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
Trump, who often highlights his unconventional diplomatic approach, used the moment to contrast his record with past U.S. presidents.
“To the best of my knowledge, we’ve never had a president who solved one war. Not one. Bush started a war A lot of them did. But I saved tens of millions of lives,” he said.
He added that his efforts had been guided not by recognition but by results.
“Every time I solved one, they said, ‘If you solve the next one, you’ll get the Nobel Prize.’ I didn’t get a Nobel Prize. Somebody got it — a very nice woman, I don’t know who she is. But I don’t care. I just care about saving lives.”
Turning to the current Russia-Ukraine war, Trump said he was confident of “success” in ending it soon.
“This will be number nine. We are going to have success with this (Ukraine) war,” he said, adding, “That’s an easy one for me to solve if I have to solve it.”
He also alluded to recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling it “an easy one” to handle if necessary.
“In the meantime, I have to run the USA, but I love solving wars,” he said. “You know why? I like stopping people from being killed. And I’ve saved millions and millions of lives.”
Trump’s meeting with Zelenskyy came a day after his hour-long call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He said both leaders had made “great progress” and confirmed plans to meet in Budapest, Hungary, within weeks.
“President Putin and I will meet in Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this inglorious war to an end,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
