US President Donald Trump said that the US military has carried out its third fatal strike this month against a vessel suspected of drug smuggling, killing three people aboard.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the target was linked to narcotrafficking and terrorism. “On my orders, the Secretary of War ordered a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization conducting narcotrafficking in the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility,” Trump wrote.

According to Trump, intelligence confirmed the vessel was carrying illicit narcotics along “a known narcotrafficking passage en route to poison Americans.” The strike, he said, killed three male narcoterrorists in international waters. “No US Forces were harmed in this strike,” Trump added.

Trump framed the action as part of his broader crackdown on drug smuggling and fentanyl. “STOP SELLING FENTANYL, NARCOTICS, AND ILLEGAL DRUGS IN AMERICA, AND COMMITTING VIOLENCE AND TERRORISM AGAINST AMERICANS!!!” he wrote.

The US twice earlier this month carried out fatal strikes against alleged drug-smuggling vessels that had originated from Venezuela.
