Trump Jr argued that Europe, which is closer to the conflict, needs a stronger plan and should take more responsibility rather than relying on the US.

US President Donald Trump may walk away from the Ukraine peace process, his eldest son Donald Trump Jr has said. Speaking to journalist Yalda Hakim at a Middle East conference in Qatar on Sunday, Trump Jr suggested that his father’s approach to the conflict in Ukraine is unpredictable.
“I think he may," Trump Jr said when asked whether the US President might step back from the peace process. He added that what makes his father unique is that “you don’t know what he’s going to do" and that he does not follow the traditional playbook of long-time bureaucrats.

“The fact that he’s not predictable, he’s not following the playbook of every clown who’s, again, been a bureaucrat for decades, you don’t know," he noted.
Trump Jr also criticised how the conflict in Ukraine has been framed by the US and international media. He claimed that Ukraine had a “far more corrupt" system than Russia before the war, based on US government assessments.
He said that, since the start of the conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been treated almost as a “borderline deity," particularly by the political left, despite years of corruption, graft, and theft.
“He was beyond reproach. Years of corruption, years of graft and theft, on a world stage that everyone in this room knew was happening, was totally absolved. And it’s ridiculous. We’re not dealing in reality," Trump Jr added.
During the interview, Hakim asked about European concerns that Ukraine might be abandoned by the US. Trump Jr said that while the US does not plan to abandon Ukraine, American public support is limited when it comes to funding the conflict. He noted that many Americans, including Republicans, do not rank Ukraine among their top issues, despite political leaders framing it as a priority.
“I speak to Republicans all over the country every day, probably far more than Mitch has ever spoken to, despite his 379-year career in politics. I did that on a weekly basis, and I surveyed people at every talk I did," he said.
Further adding, “It got to the point where it was probably well over 200,000 Americans that I spoke to directly. And I’d be in a room like this, and I’d ask, is Russia-Ukraine a top-three issue for anyone in the room? Nothing."
