A pro-life activist in New York City was physically assaulted while conducting a street interview on abortion in the city’s Harlem area. The video showing the moment she was punched in the face during the heated exchange has gone viral.

Savannah Craven Antao, a 23-year-old reporter with advocacy group Live Action, was engaging passersby in Harlem on Thursday when a discussion with an unidentified woman took a violent turn.

The two had been debating Planned Parenthood and abortion rights when tensions escalated.

“The woman said, ‘You don’t understand the magnitude of having a child,’ just before Craven Antao replied by bringing up the woman’s earlier comments about foster children."

Without warning, the woman unleashed multiple punches to Craven Antao’s face, leaving her with a gash above her brow. Footage shows the woman yelling an expletive as she walked away from the scene.

Craven Antao later shared photos of her injuries on social media where blood was seen running down her face and chest.

She was taken to a hospital where she received stitches.

“I was just assaulted in Harlem interviewing people on the street. In a cop car. Heading to hospital. Updates soon. Abortion supporters are violent!" she posted from the back of a police vehicle.

Her husband, Henry Antao, confirmed the incident in a statement released through Live Action.

He said the attacker became aggressive upon learning about Craven Antao’s stance and that he had shared images and a description of the suspect with the New York Police Department.

The NYPD has not yet made an arrest and there is no update on the investigation.

In earlier parts of the video, the woman had also expressed anti-police sentiments and made controversial remarks suggesting that death was preferable to foster care for children.

Following the attack, Craven Antao reassured followers on social media: “Bruised, but blessed," she wrote. “I AM OKAY! I love you all, thank you for the support."
