Hours after Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for six years, Nitish Kumar’s JDU leader slammed the RJD supremo over his “newfound conscience."

Speaking to ANI, JDU leader Neeraj Kumar asked, “Did Yadav’s culture not awaken when Aishwarya Rai, Tej Pratap’s wife, was thrown out of the house?"

“This is a matter of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family. When the granddaughter of Bihar’s famous politician Daroga Prasad Rai was thrown out of the house, did your (Lalu Yadav’s) culture not awaken, and today your conscience has awakened?" he asked.

Taking a swipe at the Yadav family for their contradictory statements, the JDU leader called Pratap’s expulsion a political spectacle and wondered what kind of “cat-and-mouse game" they were playing. He was referring to Tejashwi’s remark on the expulsion of his elder brother from the party.

Tejashwi had said, “My elder brother is an adult. He is free to make any choice in his personal life. But there are certain things we cannot tolerate. And this is what our national president has asserted in his post."

Meanwhile, JDU leader KC Tyagi also reacted to the ongoing row and said that one cannot be immoral in one’s private life and be ethical in politics. “In public life, if you are immoral in your private life, you cannot be ethical in politics – this is the result of that. First, Bihar was ruined; now the family is being ruined. In politics, people’s private and public lives are not separate," Tyagi told ANI in a sharp attack on Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Why Did RJD Expel Tej Pratap Yadav?

RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday not only expelled his elder son from the party but also disowned him from his family.

“He shall have nothing to do with the family," Yadav said.

The decision by the RJD Supremo was taken after Tej Pratap on May 24 announced that he was “in a relationship for 12 years" with a woman, despite being married and his divorce still being pending. The post was deleted hours later with Pratap claiming his account was hacked.

“The activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behaviour of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I remove him from the party and family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party and family," Prasad said in a post on X.
