Carol Acosta, known to millions as Killadamente, has passed away at the age of 27.
The Dominican Republic-born influencer, who amassed over 6.7 million followers on Instagram, was a well-known figure in the social media world.
She shared content focused on lifestyle, self-empowerment and mental health.
Killadamente’s death was confirmed by her sister, Katyan, who posted a tribute on Instagram over the weekend. “I love you sister and I will always love you,” Katyan wrote. “I give thanks to God for giving me a sister like you with your big heart. Rest in peace my sister.”
Katyan’s heartfelt post included a smiling photo of the two sisters, which she shared with her 130,000 followers. Although an official cause of death has yet to be released, unconfirmed reports suggest that Acosta may have tragically choked on her food during a family dinner on January 3.
Acosta’s family released a statement confirming her passing, which read: “On January 3, our dear Carol, better known as Killadamente, passed away. The Acosta Gonzalez family shares its pain with everyone who knew her.” The statement also praised her contributions to the lives of others, stating that she “managed to help thousands of people through her work.”
Killadamente, who was a mother of two, used her platform not only to post about fashion and lifestyle but also to share her personal struggles and growth. She became known for her candid discussions about mental health, openly addressing her battle with anxiety and depression. In one of her videos, she shared her journey toward self-acceptance and healing, saying, “I repented, I died, I was born again. And my brothers and sisters, I am now proudly free from sin. God forgave me and it feels so good to be free from the anxiety and depression that used to force me to take drugs and do things I didn’t want to do.”
Her transparency resonated with many of her followers, who found comfort and strength in her authenticity.
As news of her passing spread, a GoFundMe was set up to assist with funeral expenses and support her family, including her children. The fundraiser has already raised over $20,000, reflecting the outpouring of love and support from her devoted fanbase.
