Elon Musk said the name Grokipedia is a temporary one and when it becomes “good enough”, it will be rebranded as Encyclopedia Galactica.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said that the name Grokipedia, given to AI-generated encyclopedia launched by xAI, was temporary and rebranding will follow once it gets slightly better.
The rival of widely followed Wikipedia, Grokipedia, aims to give its readers “truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth".
Musk, who also owns xAI, took to X, a social media he owns as well, to say that the rebranding will be done once Grokipedia is “good enough".
“When Grokipedia is good enough (long way to go), we will change the name to Encyclopedia Galactica. It will be an open-source distillation of all knowledge, including audio, images and video. Join @xAI to help build the sci-fi version of the Library of Alexandria!" Musk said.
Must also said Grokipedia will join his mission to take human race to Mars and beyond. “Copies will be etched in stone and sent to the Moon, Mars and beyond. This time, it will not be lost," he said.
Isaac Asimov, one of the most influential science-fiction writers of the 20th century, created the Foundation series, where the Encyclopaedia Galactica plays a central role.

Asimov was a prolific author — also a scientist — and is widely known for shaping modern sci-fi ideas about galactic empires, robotics and future history. In Foundation, the Encyclopaedia Galactica is imagined as a vast, galaxy-wide project meant to gather and preserve all human knowledge at a time when a massive empire is slowly collapsing.
Grokipedia is an AI-generated online encyclopedia launched by Elon Musk’s company xAI in October 2025. It was created as a direct challenger to Wikipedia and claims to host hundreds of thousands of articles, most of which are written or edited by xAI’s language model, Grok.
Musk has positioned Grokipedia as a response to what he describes as ideological bias on Wikipedia, framing it as more “neutral".
