US President Donald Trump sparked fresh controversy on social media after sharing a post claiming that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio would become “president of Cuba.” Trump captioned the post on Truth Social: “Sounds good to me!”
The claim, which originated on X (formerly Twitter), quickly went viral. Analysts and fact-checkers say it is not based on any official US policy or plan. There is no evidence of any move to install Rubio, a long-time critic of the Cuban government, as Cuba’s leader.
