Arattai is finally getting end-to-end encryption for chats
WhatsApp made in India rival Arattai app from Zoho is finally getting end-to-end encryption for personal chats. The security feature has been compatible with video and voice calls on the platform and now it will be working across the regular chats as well. Zoho claims the E2E standard is the same as WhatsApp and Signal messaging apps, and all the chats are secure behind encrypted keys that are only available on the device of the users.
The new update has started rolling out this week for Android, iOS and even the Windows version of the app.
Arattai Gets Encryption For Chats: Does It Help?
The platform is bringing E2E security with a different take on how it works and who can access it. The older chats on Arattai will stay unencrypted and the app will require users to start a new session to benefit from the encryption update.
The company also says if you continue with the same chat thread but want to enable encryption the messaging app will guide you to a new session where the chats will be secure. The feature is not going to be enabled by default so you will have to manually use the security setting for chats. This may sound strange but Zoho is clearly adhering to its own policies.
What About Encryption For Other Features?
Arattai says with the rollout of e2e for personal chats, the work has already started to bring the security feature for group chats and chat backups that will be available in the next few weeks.
How To Get Encryption For Chats In Arattai?
The Arattai app has got a new update for different platforms:
Android – 1.33.6 or aboveiOS – 1.17.23 or aboveDesktop – 1.0.7 version or higherYou will need to auto-update the app to get the new security feature. Zoho is not exactly pushing the users to take the new version but that stipulation ends after 72 hours and the update will be compulsory to install for all the users. The auto-update will ensure that everyone now has e2e enabled for chats.
