China has received an invitation from the United States to join the Board of Peace—an outreach Washington extended to dozens of countries as part of its effort to launch a global initiative aimed at resolving conflicts—a spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India said.
In a post on X, spokesperson Yu Jing said China practices true multilateralism and remains firmly committed to safeguarding the international system with the United Nations at its core.
The spokesperson added that irrespective of changes in the international landscape, China will continue to uphold the international order based on international law and the basic norms governing international relations rooted in the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Governments from around the world have so far reacted cautiously to Trump’s invitation to join the initiative, which diplomats say could undermine the United Nations.
The initiative would begin by focusing on the Gaza conflict before being expanded to address other situations. Its board would be chaired for life by US President Donald Trump, while member states would be limited to three-year terms unless they paid $1 billion each.
The US president has invited a range of world leaders, including Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to become founding members of the board.
