Amid escalating tensions between Ukraine and the United States, Volodymyr Zelensky added fuel to the fire on Thursday. The Ukrainian president has reportedly blocked access to Truth Social across the nation.
The U.S. Homeland Security News has claimed this, posting on the microblogging site X with the caption, "Zelensky blocks Trump's Truth Social network across Ukraine!!"
However, Kyiv has not yet provided any clarification on the issue, nor has Truth Social.
The situation between the two countries has worsened after US President Donald Trump called Zelensky a 'dictator.' This comes in the wake of Zelensky's response to the US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine was excluded.
The US and Russia held their first high-level meeting on Tuesday since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Trump recently spoke at an investment meeting in Florida, where he criticized the Ukrainian president. He claimed that Zelensky's only has the skill to manipulate Joe Biden to get what he wants. Trump also accused Zelensky of doing a terrible job leading Ukraine and called him a "dictator" — a remark he had made just hours earlier on his microblogging site, Truth Social.
However, Trump's comment was denounced by the European leaders. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that "it is simply wrong and dangerous to deny President Zelensky his democratic legitimacy."
Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed his support for war-torn Ukraine in a phone call to Zelensky.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet with Keith Kellogg, the US envoy for Russia and Ukraine, on Thursday. Zelensky emphasized the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue and cooperation with the U.S.
Donald Trump has triggered the war of words when he blamed Zelensky for the war. The U.S. also claimed that Zelensky had lost popularity and had only a 4% approval rating.
