Donald Trump thanked First Lady Melania Trump during his speech at Congress, praising her efforts in advocating for the protection of children.

First Lady Melania Trump received a standing ovation as she arrived at the US Capitol for President Donald Trump’s first joint session of Congress, just six weeks after his historic return to the White House. Dressed in a dark gray skirt suit with a belted jacket, she paired the look with a scarf and her signature stiletto heels, making a poised entrance on Trump’s big political night.

Later in his speech, Trump acknowledged her, sparking another round of applause as she stood to accept the recognition.

“I would also recognise another person who has devoted herself to the foster care community, she works so hard on it. A very loving person, our magnificent First Lady of the United States," said Trump as his words were met with huge rounds of applause.

He added, “Our First Lady is joined by two impressive young women, very impressive. Haley Ferguson, who benefitted from the First Lady’s fostering future initiative and is poised to complete her education to become a teacher. And Elliston Berry who became a victim of an illicit deep fake image produced by a peer. With Elliston’s help, the senate just passed the Take It Down Act…."

She was joined by her stepchildren, including Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr with girlfriend Bettina Anderson, Eric and Lara Trump, as well as Tiffany Trump and husband Michael Boulos.
