Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been sleeping in at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) office, as per a Wired report. Elon Musk has been invited to spend the night in the White House’s Lincoln Bedroom, he told attendees at a recent black-tie dinner hosted by the Alfalfa Club. But, Elon Musk reportedly chose to stay at the DOGE headquarters to avoid a more formal relationship with Donald Trump’s team after Chief of Staff Susie Wiles denied him office space in the West Wing, as per the report.
In 2018, Elon Musk claimed that he was “sleeping on the factory floor" of Tesla because he didn’t have “time to go home and shower." Earlier, it was reported that the billionaire also directed workers to do the same. In an earnings call last year, Elon Musk said that Tesla workers would have to sleep on the manufacturing line in order to ensure new EV model rollouts.
He said, “We’ll be sleeping on the line, practically. Not practically, we will be." He has previously called Tesla factories his “primary residences" while Tesla has come under fire for allegations of toxic workplace culture.
In an interview in 2022, Elon Musk said, “This is important because if the team thinks their leader is off somewhere having a good time, drinking Mai Tais on a tropical island… they knew I was there, and that made a huge difference."
