Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon escalated his attacks on Elon Musk, urging US President Donald Trump to order a federal investigation into Tesla CEO’s immigration status, deport him “immediately" and seize control of SpaceX using emergency presidential powers.
Steve Bannon Calls For Defense Production Act to Seize SpaceX
Speaking on his “War Room" podcast, Steve Bannon called on Donald Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act (DPA) in response to Elon Musk’s threat to decommission SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft.
“The action that President Trump should be taking immediately, I think, is when [Musk] threatens to take one of the big programs out of SpaceX, President Trump tonight should sign an executive order calling for the Defense Production Act to be called in on SpaceX and seize SpaceX tonight, before midnight," Steve Bannon said.
The Defense Production Act allows the president to compel private companies to prioritize government contracts for national defense but it does not provide the legal authority to seize private companies outright.
Steve Bannon Demands Elon Musk’s Deportation
Steve Bannon accused Elon Musk of being in the United States illegally and demanded an immediate federal probe into his immigration history.
“They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status, because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately," Steve Bannon told The New York Times.
He further urged Donald Trump to investigate Elon Musk’s alleged drug use and claims that the entrepreneur sought access to a classified Pentagon briefing on China. Steve Bannon insisted that Elon Musk’s security clearance be suspended and all federal contracts with his companies be canceled pending a formal review.
Donald Trump- Elon Musk Feud
Elon Musk, who formerly headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has broken publicly with Donald Trump over policy and political direction.
The split turned personal when Donald Trump said, “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. He hasn’t said bad about me personally, but I’m sure that’ll be next."
Shortly after, Elon Musk lashed out on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Donald Trump of withholding Jeffrey Epstein-related documents.
