the Indian Embassy in Tehran is taking active steps to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian students in the region. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Sunday that the Embassy is in constant touch with the student community and is monitoring the security situation closely.

“The Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety," read the official statement from the MEA.

To address immediate risks, the Embassy has begun facilitating the relocation of some students to safer areas within Iran. “In some cases, students are being relocated with Embassy’s facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination. Further updates will follow," the statement added, indicating that evacuation strategies are under consideration should the situation worsen.

The Embassy is also engaging with local community leaders to address concerns and extend support. “Separately, the Embassy is in touch with community leaders regarding welfare and safety," the statement noted.

This comes in the wake of a “wide-scale" wave of Israeli strikes targeting weapons production facilities in Iran, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The attacks reportedly destroyed infrastructure belonging to the Quds Force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Iranian military in Tehran.

Among the targeted assets were facilities for the production of navigation and missile systems, missile fuel, surface-to-surface missile engines, and aerial defense components tied to the IRGC.

The rapidly deteriorating security environment has prompted widespread international concern. Several world leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, have urged diplomatic efforts to defuse tensions. After a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, she reaffirmed Europe’s “commitment to peace, stability, and diplomatic efforts leading to de-escalation."

The Indian government’s focus remains on safeguarding its citizens in Iran, with the Embassy pledging continued communication and support in the days ahead.
