Donald Trump said broadcaster CBS edited the “60 Minutes” interview in a way that made Kamala Harris appear “deceptively” better.

US broadcaster CBS will submit the full transcript of its October interview with Vice President Kamala Harris to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This comes amid US President Donald Trump’s ongoing battle with the network over its reporting on his political opponent.

Trump has filed a $10 million lawsuit against CBS, accusing it of editing the “60 Minutes" interview in a way that favoured Harris.

CBS’ parent company, Paramount, is reportedly in talks with Donald Trump’s legal team for a possible settlement in the lawsuit against the network.

The network confirmed on Friday that it was instructed by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, a Trump appointee, to provide full transcripts and camera feeds of the Kamala Harris interview. This move is part of an ongoing FCC investigation into the matter.

CBS’ legal team had earlier dismissed the case as “completely without merit" and vowed to fight it.

The controversy over Kamala Harris’ interview with CBS began when the network aired two different responses to the same question on separate programmes. The discrepancies appeared in clips broadcast on Face the Nation on October 6 and 60 Minutes the following night.

CBS defended the edits, stating that both clips were part of Harris’ full response but had been trimmed to fit time constraints.

Donald Trump, however, filed a lawsuit in Texas on November 1, accusing CBS of deliberate manipulation to favour Harris. He claimed the editing amounted to “partisan and unlawful acts of voter interference."

Despite winning the election less than a week later, Trump has continued his legal battle against the network. He had previously declined an invitation to be interviewed by 60 Minutes during the campaign.

If Paramount agrees to a deal, it would mark another legal victory for Trump, who has recently secured high-profile settlements from media giants.

In December, ABC News paid $16 million to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Trump against anchor George Stephanopoulos. More recently, on Wednesday, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, agreed to pay $25 million to settle a lawsuit related to Trump’s suspension from the platform after the January 6 Capitol riot.

Meta, the company that owns Facebook, reached a $25 million settlement on Wednesday in a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump. The lawsuit stemmed from Facebook’s decision to ban Trump from the platform after the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
