US Vice President Kamala Harris has addressed her supporters for the first time since her defeat in the recent presidential election against Republican Donald Trump, 78. In a video shared by the Democratic Party’s official X account, Harris appeared sad and subdued -- a stark contrast to her typically cheerful character. Harris is known for her distinctive laughter, which was a talking point during the election season.
In the video, Harris, dressed in professional attire but looking visibly tired, delivered an encouraging message to supporters feeling disheartened by the election results.
"I just have to remind you, don’t let anybody take your power from you. You have the same power that you did before November 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you," Harris said.
The video has drawn significant attention online, with some viewers noting her subdued appearance and questioning the decision to share it publicly.
"Is this a... joke? It's a terrible video. Yikes," one user commented.
Fox News contributor Joe Concha remarked, "I’m not sure you guys want to be amplifying this. There’s something, ummmm, off with the vice president."
The timing of Harris’s message, and her apparent mood, have left many speculating about her state of mind as she transitions out of office.
"Have you been drinking?" one user commented, while another commenter observed, "Oof, she looks rough. Had a few too many drinks?"
Meanwhile, over the past three weeks, President-elect Donald Trump has been steadily advancing his plans for his second term, including cabinet appointments and coordinating the transfer of power with the Biden administration.
Trump, 78, is set to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025. JD Vance will succeed Harris as Vice President.
