Las Vegas football coach arrested for child pornography, sex crimes with students

A head football coach at a Las Vegas school has been accused of carrying on a sexual relationship with a student under the age of 16, child pornography and other sex-related offences. The 45-year football coach and campus security monitor worked at Valley High School in Las Vegas. The teacher, identified as Antwone Washington, was arrested on December 3. He was married and had three other girlfriends.

The football coach has been charged with kidnapping a minor, four counts of using or permitting a minor over 14 to produce pornography, three counts of statutory sexual seduction by a person over 21, and contacting a minor for sex as a person of authority, according to court records, reported the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Senior Judge David Gibson set bail at USD 100,000 for Antwone during a court hearing on Wednesday in Henderson Justice Court. The judge ordered Antwone to appear in court again on December 16.

Antwone's lawyer, Tyler Gaston, stated that the case was first in Las Vegas Justice Court, but the judges stepped away because they knew the football coach's wife personally, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal.

He also said the coach has no criminal history, and he will not be a danger to the community. However, the judge refused and said that there is "clear evidence that he is a danger to the community".

Antwone would be facing a life sentence if convicted.

According to the arrest report, Las Vegas Police have found four videos of Antwone having sex with the student, who was under 16.

The videos were found on the student's phone after police arrested another 46-year-old man on Sunday who the student said she had been having sex with, according to the report.

In one video, the coach was urinating on the student, and in another, she appeared to be bound and unconscious. The arrest report indicates that the video shows the student handcuffed and lying down "with her eyes closed".

Detectives wrote in the report that Antwone would contact the girl during school hours and "take her out to his vehicle for sex". Police worked to identify him through messages exchanged between him and the student. The head football coach admitted to the relationship during a police interrogation.

He said he met the student while trying to recruit her boyfriend for the football team. Antwone also admitted to taking the student to one of his girlfriend's flats for sex, according to media reports.

He believed the student was 16, but detectives informed him that she was in fact younger. The student's exact age was not kept discreet.

She alleged that their relationship started when Antwone was acting as campus security, and that she began messaging him on Snapchat.

"Antwone said the relationship was never supposed to be sexual, and he only wanted to be a mentor for" her, according to the report.
