US President Donald Trump on Saturday expressed his condolences over the plane crash in Philadelphia, which claimed the lives of six people.

Trump, while offering his condolences, praised the efforts of first responders and sent his best wishes to those affected by the crash, adding, “God bless you all."

“So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged. First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The crash took place late Friday night, US time, when a small Learjet 55 aircraft crashed into a busy suburban area of Philadelphia.

The plane was bound for Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri and had taken off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. It crashed around 11:30 PM GMT, showering wreckage across a wide area and sparking fires that caused significant damage to homes and vehicles.

Local authorities, including Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker and Governor Josh Shapiro, confirmed that emergency responders were on the scene.

Shapiro stated, “We’ll continue to provide updates as more information is available," as investigations into the cause of the crash were launched by both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

This crash takes place just two days after a deadly midair collision between a passenger jet and a military helicopter in Washington, D.C., which killed all 67 people onboard.
