A dedicated BJP foot soldier, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)’s trusted lieutenant, and a man credited with the saffron surge in Maharashtra in the recently concluded assembly elections — Devendra Fadnavis wears many hats. As he gets set to embark on a new but explored journey as Maharashtra’s chief minister, there is one facet of Fadnavis that his supporters are eager to learn more of — his personal life.
Most know Fadnavis’ wife Amruta to be a social media sensation, known for her Instagram reels. A banker by profession, she is an actor and singer currently serving as the vice-president of Axis Bank.
Born in Nagpur in 1979, Amruta pursued an MBA in finance and taxation laws from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, after her initial schooling and college. She is actively involved in social initiatives and has received recognition such as the Women’s Excellence Awards 2017 and the Woman of Substance Award.
The couple has a daughter named Divija who completed her schooling from Mumbai’s Cathedral School in Fort.
Wednesday marked a historic comeback for Devendra Fadnavis as he was elected the leader of the legislature party, paving the way for him to wear the chief minister’s crown once again.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai on Thursday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as nearly 2,000 VVIPs and 40,000 supporters. Several Union ministers, and 19 chief ministers and deputy CMs of various states are also expected to attend the ceremony.
The Mahayuti alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s ist Congress Party (NCP) retained power with a landslide victory in the assembly elections, the results of which were announced on November 23. While the simple majority figure in the 288-member House is 145, the BJP alone bagged 132 seats, followed by Shiv Sena with 57 and NCP with 41 seats.
The BJP’s sensational victory has been attributed to Fadnavis’ efforts and, according to a section of BJP leaders and his supporters, the chief ministerial crown is the best way to award his sincerity and discipline.
