A father killed her 15-year-old girl, identified as Hira, for creating TikTok videos in Quetta, Pakistan, reported ARY News. The alleged honour killing was carried out by the father with the help of the girl’s maternal uncle.
Hira’s father was angry with his daughter because of her social media presence and did not like her habit of uploading videos on TikTok. He had asked her to not make those videos.
However, when Hira refused to follow her father’s orders, he made a plan with the maternal uncle of the girl to kill his daughter.
According to the police officials, father Anwarul-Haq had moved to the United States along with his wife and children several years ago.
On January 15, he travelled back to Pakistan with Hira while his wife and two other daughters stayed back in the US.
As per the police, the killing was premeditated as a plot was hatched by Anwarul-Haq with Tayyab Ali.
Both the accused were arrested by the police after they confessed to their crimes, reported ARY News.
The police transferred the case to the Serious Crime Investigation Wing for further inquiry.
TikTok Remains Unavailable In US
As of now, TikTok has been unavailable on Google and Apple app stores in the United States. Meanwhile, United States President Donald Trump had vouched to approve the application if the country will have its 50% ownership.
“We need to save TikTok because we have to save a lot of jobs. We don’t want to give our business to China… I agreed to approve TikTok on the condition that the USA will own 50 per cent of TikTok..," said Trump.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk hailed the decision of Trump to not ban Chinese social media app TikTok.
Musk said that the ban on TikTok ban was against freedom of speech but underlined the imbalance of X being banned in China but TikTok being operational in the US.
“I have been against a TikTok ban for a long time, because it goes against freedom of speech. That said, the current situation where TikTok is allowed to operate in America, but X is not allowed to operate in China is unbalanced. Something needs to change," Musk said.
On April 19, Musk opposed the TikTok ban. “In my opinion, TikTok should not be banned in the USA, even though such a ban may benefit the X platform. Doing so would be contrary to freedom of speech and expression. It is not what America stands for," he said.
