Google Meet has been unavailable for thousands in India
Google Meet, the tech giant’s widely used video-calling platform, experienced a major outage on Wednesday, with users across several regions reporting that they were unable to join meetings. Many took to social media to share their frustration — and humour — over the sudden disruption.
From jokes like “Google Meet down, yay!" to “It crashed before my will to work did," users flooded X with memes. Some even complained that the platform worked only in incognito mode, adding to the chaos.
According to outage tracker Downdetector, around 67% of users faced issues accessing the Google Meet website, while 32% reported server connectivity problems.
Cities reporting the highest number of complaints included Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Madurai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Google Meet is a widely used platform for virtual meetings, remote classes, interviews and team communication. It supports over 65 languages with translated captions and is accessible via the app or website on phones, tablets, and computers.
