The shooting comes as a Stockholm court was due to rule whether Salwan Momika, who burned Qurans at a slew of protests, was guilty of inciting ethnic hatred. The ruling was postponed saying that “one of the defendents has died."
The shooting took place in Sodertalje, near Stockholm and the victim was later identified as Salwan Momika, reported Swedish news agency SVT.

The 38-year-old staged several burnings and desecrations of Islam’s holy book in Sweden. Videos of the burnings raised anger and criticism in several Muslim nations, leading to riots and unrest. Salwan Momika was under investigation by the Swedish authorities, with charges of incitement against ethnic communities.
