Telegram CEO Pavel Durov’s sperm is now available at a Moscow-based clinic for those who want to undergo free IVF treatment – or so the website of the fertility clinic claims.
Describing Durov as one of the “most famous and successful entrepreneurs of all time", the clinic – Altravita – claims to be offering this “unique opportunity" with a limited number of slots available.
“We are happy to offer you a unique opportunity! Only in our clinic you can undergo IVF for free, using Pavel Durov’s sperm-one of the most famous and successful entrepreneurs of our time. This opportunity is one of a kind and the number of slots is limited," the clinic’s website states.
On his Telegram channel, Durov – who revealed to the world in July that he had more than “100 biological children" through sperm donation – has linked the website for the fertility clinic in posts made during his unusual announcement. But, he has not specified whether the treatment will be free.
The clinic’s website, in turn, has given details on how a person can apply for free in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) using Durov’s sperm. It said the offer stands for women aged not more than 37 years with health conditions deemed “satisfactory" by their “reproductologist’s medical report".
It has claimed that it is the “only Pavel Durov sperm bank in the world". “Only our cryobank has the exclusive right to store and use biomaterial of Pavel Durov," it added.
The clinic further said Durov will be financing all the IVF procedures that involve the use of his sperm for those who desire to be parents. The clinic will provide experts in reproductive medicine, who will be using the most advanced technology, it added.
Back in July, Durov on his Telegram channel, ‘Du Rove’s Channel’, had spoken about how at least one IVF clinic still has his sperm frozen, which is available for “anonymous use" by those who want to have children. He had said he also wants to help destigmatise sperm donation, raising awareness among healthy men to do this more often so that “families struggling to have kids can enjoy more options. Defy convention – redefine the norm"!
“I was just told that I have over 100 biological kids. How is this possible for a guy who has never been married and prefers to live alone?" he asked on his channel.
“Fifteen years ago, a friend of mine approached me with a weird request. He said that he and his wife couldn’t have kids due to a fertility issue and asked me to donate sperm at a clinic for them to have a baby. I laughed my ass off before realizing he was dead serious," he added.
Durov further said after the head of the clinic, where he went to donate, told him that “high quality donor material" was in short supply, he felt it was his “civic duty to donate more sperm". “This sounded crazy enough to get me to sign up for sperm donation," he said.
He added: “Fast forward to 2024, my past donating activity has helped over a hundred couples in 12 countries to have kids. Moreover, many years after I stopped being a donor, at least one IVF clinic still has my frozen sperm available for anonymous use by families who want to have kids."
The Telegram CEO has also said he wants to open-source his DNA so that his “biological children can find each other more easily".
