US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that he received an important letter from Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier today, which clearly mentions that Kyiv is “ready to come to the negotiating table for peace as soon as possible".
Addressing the joint session of the Congress, Trump further said that he had “some serious" discussions with Russia and received strong signals from Moscow that it is “ready for peace".
“We received an important letter from the Ukrainian President, saying we are ready to work under the US President for peace and regarding the pending agreement on rare earth minerals. Simultaneously, we received signals from Russia that they were ready for peace.
“Wouldn’t that be beautiful? Time to halt the killing, stop the madness, and time to stop the war," the US President said, bringing the speculations around the peace deal to rest.
