US Stock Market Highlights: The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined for a third consecutive session after President Donald Trump escalated trade tensions with China by threatening steeper tariffs on Monday (April 7). The Dow dropped 349 points, or 0.9%, after having plunged more than 1,700 points at its session low before staging a massive reversal, swinging 2,595 points from bottom to top, the largest intraday swing on record.

US Stock Market Highlights: The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined for a third consecutive session after President Donald Trump escalated trade tensions with China by threatening steeper tariffs on Monday (April 7).

The Dow dropped 349 points, or 0.9%, after having plunged more than 1,700 points at its session low before staging a massive reversal, swinging 2,595 points from bottom to top, the largest intraday swing on record.

The S&P 500 slipped 0.2%. It had fallen as much as 4.7% earlier in the day, briefly entering bear market territory before recovering to close about 18% below its recent peak. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite eked out a 0.1% gain as investors selectively bought into megacap tech names, including Nvidia and Palantir.
