US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised European leaders, calling them “weak" and accusing them of failing to manage migration or take meaningful steps to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking to Politico, he said Europe had become “decaying" and claimed its governments expected Kyiv to “fight until they drop". He also suggested the United States could scale back support for Ukraine unless progress was made towards a peace deal.
Trump’s remarks come at a delicate moment for Europe, where leaders have tried to carve out a more active role in diplomatic efforts to end the conflict. Many fear that an overly hasty settlement could favour short-term stability over long-term security for the continent.
